Provide a computer and internet access for a group in East Africa.

For many rural African communities, communication with the outside world is not an option, it is a challenge. With no electricity or telephone lines, a quick check of one’s email can take days.
Maanda Ngoitiko with Pastoral Women’s Council knows first-hand the struggle to keep up with the greater world from her home in rural Loliondo, Tanzania, as well as being aware of the huge impact communication from around the world can provide. Pastoral Women’s Council has taken the first step towards becoming wired to the world. With support from our donors the Pastoral Women’s Council communication system is now opening the gateway to the world for a community of 4,500.
Thousands of people in East Africa live in remote areas where mail and phone service are sketchy or unavailable. Current issues of newspapers and magazines are rare and precious. Email can connect Africa to global resources. Through the internet, community groups can consult experts all over the world for advice and ideas. Internet access also broadens the market for local products.
With satellite technology, communities reach beyond their immediate areas to gather resources that will help move them into the 21st century.
For $150 you can give a community the gift of the whole world at their fingertips.
Access to the Future
Your gift of a computer and internet access will make it possible for rural East African communities to reach beyond their immediate areas and gather resources that will help move them into the 21st century.
